Bambarakanda Falls

Bambarakanda Waterfalls is the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and is located in the Badulla District of the Uva Province. The waterfall has a height of 863 feet and is situated in a scenic location surrounded by hills and forests.

The name Bambarakanda comes from the Sinhala words “Bambara” which means “bees” and “Kanda” which means “mountain”, referring to the surrounding mountains where bees are abundant. The waterfall is fed by the Kuda Oya River, which flows down from the Horton Plains National Park. To reach Bambarakanda Waterfalls, one has to travel from Haputale to Kalupahana, which is about 22 km away.
